On the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, Vistara has 248 seats, manufactured by RECARO. They are in a 3-3-3 configuration, with 31 inches spread, as well as a 5-inch bed.  The name comes from the Sanskrit word vistera, which means “unlimited immensity.”   Vistara received the Air Carrier Certificate from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation on December 15, 2014 and commenced operations on January 9, 2015.
